Launch Party - EVENTS withdogs

An idea brought to life with a launch party.

Those who have been at the Launch Party will remember that withdogs was called KnowYourBeagle back then. The events weren’t only for Beagles (they’re just my favourite breed) the name was confusing and so I renamed it to withdogs.

Anyway, lets’ get back to the Launch Party.

One way to bring your idea to life, rather than keeping it in your head for years, is to launch it. Saying this out loud sounds simple and easy enough, but it’s not.

It took time and effort to find a suitable venue to fit my requirements for dog-friendly events;
* fenced, for dogs to run safely off-leash,
* big enough for dogs to play, with shade,
* and facilities like restrooms, seating, and food.
When I found the first venue that matched all of the above, it was time to launch.

No one knew me, I was new in the dog community, and before the launch, no one knew what withdogs was about.

The day wasn’t about a specific experience or workshop, it was essentially a get-together allowing me to meet fellow dog-loving people. The entry to the event was free to anyone who could join but I was still nervous about the turnout.

These local brands were happy to be part of my first event and for that, I’m forever grateful. Floofy and Pawsy custom made withdogs bandanas for each dog and as it was a summer’s day, so Cool Dogs Icecream made sure the dogs stayed cool during the event. Mimi and Munch and Doggylish gave us treat sample bags to hand out and so did Pannatural Pets with their dog shampoo. Everyone got a bag of Just Popcorn to snack on and there were Pet Prints magazines to take. Oshun Health, The Herbal Pet and Pannuarual gave goodies for random raffles.

Dogs have this magical way of making everything better and the moment I saw my first (dog) guest I felt calm. And so the crowd grew to people and dogs enjoying the summer day.

All the dogs instantly made friends and brought their humans together to chat with each other about their dogs.
